You Know Times Are Hard When.....

Hi there everyone! Please forgive the absence of posts during my time of holiday rapture. I hope that you all enjoyed your Christmas and are gearing up for a Happy New Year. During my brief sabbatical I came upon many interesting tidbits of brain candy. There were two in particular that were bellwether moments that prove we are indeed in a recession. The first pic speaks for the season and itself. Times are difficult indeed when one must resort to this.
The second bit of both useful and useless knowledge is the video about a little boy who broke into the dollar store late at night to play with toys. Questions to ponder: Where were his parents? Why was the store unlocked? Where were his parents?! Ahhh...I digress.

Be warned people, dogs are getting smarter by the minute. Check out this adorable canine who's not gonna let a lack of money get him down. He takes what he wants as if to say, "Put it on my tab."

The song of the day is an oldie but goodie from the "Queen of Hip Hop", Mrs. Mary J. Blige! Enjoy!

Disrespectful!!!

President Bush was on the receiving end of a 2 shoe attack by an irate Iraqi journalist a couple of days ago. I may not agree with his politics, but he is still my President until my beloved Obama is sworn in on January 20th, 2009. It offends me that someone would disrespect him on such a high level! Supposedly throwing of shoes is the ultimate show of disrespect in Iraq. I think the person that did it should be reprimanded swiftly and appropriately. I am very impressed with President Bush's ninja like reflexes though! He dodged that shoe with the quickness! Kudos to him! I also think he handled it very well given the circumstances. People should really learn how to appropriately deal with their grievances. Any US citizen should be quite peeved at such overt malevolence. Below is the video of the outburst.

I thought this song was a fitting ending to this post. Enjoy!

Late Nights with Dave......Chappelle that is

Laughter does the heart good like medicine and I absoulutely love to nearly pee my pants watching Dave Chappelle. He is arguably the funniest comedian of my generation. Partly because he is so imaginative with his material, but mostly because he keeps it sooo real! If you like your laughs like a stiff drink.......straight up with no chaser, then feast your eyes and ears to these classic Chappelle's Show clips.

Lastly, here's the song that's currently being looped in the jukebox of my mind. Enjoy!

REALLY?!

Okay, I was talking to a friend who told me that her sister-in-law decorated her Christmas tree in black and silver. WTH? Who in the world celebrates such a joyous merry season by decking the halls with such a dismal hue? Mind you that this is the time of year when suicide rates soar and depression abounds! Should one go outta one's way to roll out the red carpet for such spirits? REALLY?! I mean I can get with sophisticated and trendy. I've even decorated my tree with pine cones spray painted gold and bronze ornaments with white lights. I've also done a pink themed tree with pink ornaments and lights to boot complete with ribbon. Both were quite the masterpieces if I do say so myself! But again I must reiterate how absolutely dreadful this supposedly chic nonsense is! Different is not always good! Black is worn to funerals (hopefully not mine...I want people to celebrate and be lively!). Black is also the ultimate slimming color for gals of all ages. There's even a diet trick to eat off of black plates in order to control appetite. But, unless your tree is a bit too plump for its own good (*note the sarcasm) it should not, I repeat not, be arrayed like a ninja! All of the included pics are from the web just to be used for example purposes. The pentagram ornament is actually being sold on ebay. REALLY?! A pentagram on a Christmas tree! A demonic symbol to celebrate the birth of Christ?! SMH and walking away because I could say more but why even bother. Getting angrier about the pentagram prompted me to find scripture for consolation.
Romans 12:19
Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave the way open for [God's] wrath; for it is written, Vengeance is Mine, I will repay (requite), says the Lord.

Give Love in a Recession

I just watched CNN tonight air a piece called "Faces of the Recession." It illuminated the plight of so many people in need during this economic crisis. Much focus was on the "Big Bailout" proposed by the top three auto manufacturers. While I feel no sympathy for the "big whigs", I do feel for the factory workers who sit in dire need of a hasty resolution. The fact that it's Christmas time and many have children only adds to the ever increasing heap of problems that exist. It's hard enough to buy food, keep gas in the car, lights on in the house, and pay the gas bill. Times are so hard that things like phone, cable, and internet are considered luxuries for most. The brisk temperatures outside (as I notice it is now 27 degrees farenheit right now) make my heart break for the many homeless people who must brave this harsh environment. I ask that all of you consider others this holiday season. Thank God for His many blessings but also pray for those who are less fortunate. If you can, give freely of yourself and your possessions. Do your best to be mindful, and don't frantically search for gifts that mean nothing to satiate a commercialized desire. Please remember that Jesus is the reason for the season! And give love on Christmas Day!

Don't You Forget About Me

Speaking on good movies reminded me of my favorite movie in the world..........The Breakfast Club!!!!!! The following is a clip from this iconic film accompanied by the song it will always be inextricably linked to.

Better Late Than Never

I know I'm almost a year late and 365 dollars short....but I finally saw Juno. It was a great movie that made me both laugh and cry. If you are amongst the "better late than never" crowd like I was and have yet to see this jewel of a film....here's a teaser for ya.

The music in this film is great too! It's really folksy and relatable, if I do say so myself. I give it a 10 out of 10. What's your rating?

I'm So Sick

It's Sunday afternoon and I thought of this song that I fell in love with while playing Rock Band. Awesome game by the way and the second version is even better! Anyway the song is by a band called Flyleaf and the song is entitled "I'm So Sick." You wanna hear it? Here it goes....

You likey right? Yeah I know. Tell me what you think about this song. Even though I am not a rock aficionado, I think it's pretty solid if you ask me.

First post Hello World!!!!!

Welcome one and all to this blog where you're sure to be surprised every time you visit. Today I saw the most awesome video of a dog saving another dog who had been hit by a bus and a car!

WOW!!! Isn't it amazing to see how much capacity for love they have in their hearts? It makes one shudder to think that humans cannot be as humane. I'm referring to the trampling of an employee at a Walmart on Black Friday. It was a very Black Friday indeed, just not in a good way. SMH

It's a doggone shame what people will do for a discount!! I'm personally ashamed for the entire human race.

Well until the next post.....Be Blessed!
